'Divine Turmoil' Review

When Divine Turmoil opens, we find Serena O'Neal on her way home to care for her sick mother. She's essentially pulled the plug on her entire life to do so, and what does she get in return? A frosty welcome from her sister, bitten by her niece, and jumped on by a local dog! However, the owner of the dog is delicious local man Brian Allen. Despite baggage on his part, and hers, they find themselves falling for each other as Serena struggles to adjust to her new life, her ill mother's mood swings, and her continually difficult relationship with her sister Hope.

I really loved this story. It's not your run of the mill romance. It has a deep flavour of love and family to it, with memorable characters who have recognisable flaws and problems in their lives. Settle down with Divine Turmoil and be prepared to be entertained and touched by this sweet and sensual love story!

It's Thursday morning, one more day till the weekend!

Recently I've been reading a lot of books that required more attention to editing then was given. Not that all of my novels don't have mistakes but it's beyond me when gross mishaps happen. For instance, the all annoying- their, there, & they're- misspellings. A good editor would spot these like a fly in milk. Then there are the double words; these usually happen when the author has pulled words or sections out of the book to shorten or rewrite them- "He went to the to store". Okay, I can see the over look on the double words, sometimes. You can only reread something so many times before you become blind to its content.

My biggest pet peeve? Word repeat. This is when a word has been used in a sentence above and below. We're authors people! Find a different word! A man can only have, "chocolate eyes" and "six pack abs", a woman "luscious curves" and "passion" in her eyes, body, and hands, so many times. The reader gets bored.

As a rule, I highlight all my "favorite words". As a New Englander we tend to use, you know, that, which, decided, wicked, man, and my favorite, dude, a lot. It's in the way we talk and act. So, the first thing I do when starting the editing process is highlight these words and phases throughout the story. What a difference! In my first novel I was duded out by the end. LOL

The lesson here? Put your work aside. Let is sit and settle in for a little bit before you start that all important editing. You don't want to be the author who is known as, "Gosh, I love so and so's books. It's too bad there's so many typos. It kinda takes away from the story."

Have a sparkling day!

Review: 'One Wilde Night'

Hello and welcome to my second installment of Reviews. This week I'm blogging about Rhonda Leah's erotic story One Wilde Night. And who, I ask you, WHO? has not wanted a wild night with a handsome stranger?

It's Tara Wilde's birthday and she feeling a bit antsy. Her love life has been MIA for so long that she's seriously thinking about picking up a stranger and just doing whatever fantasies come to mind. After all she is at her twin sisters birthday party and there are plenty of men there that would be more than will to feed her appetite. Then she's introduced to Tucker Carson.

Tucker's only in town for a short time and Tara is a passionate distraction from the stress he's been under. After their one night together, Tucker can't forget the woman who gave him a false name. When he has to return to town for family obligations he pleasantly and passionately surprised to see Tara again.

Tara thinks Tucker is only back for a day or two. Imagine her surprise when she finds out otherwise. In a moment of desperation, Tucker takes her car and gets into a wreck. Now, Tara must come to terms with the fact her easy no-strings-attached affair with him might have bloomed into something more than One Wilde Night.

What can I say! I'm an avid reader of anything Lyrical Press, Inc publishes. Rhonda Leah is a superb storyteller who's ability to detail has the reader projecting the words into visual reels. Her characters were life like with their struggles and faults. I especially liked how they came together out of fate more than lust.
Warning: contains M/F romance, some strong language, and explicit sex

Rhonda, congratulations on Five Blue Rose's!

HAPPY MONDAY!!! Yes, it's Monday and the children are back to school and now it's time to get done all those things that over the weekend I was not able to accomplish.

I'm in the middle of reviewing a novel for a fellow author. She's reviewing mine and I have to say I'm pretty ecstatic about it. I've picked up my new book, Noble Deception, again. This book has been a favorite of mine since I first started writing it a few years ago. The concept is a secret but I can a sure you that you're going to love it! Then there's the third novel in my Divine Series. Boy, that pesty book is giving me some problems!  I don't know what to do with it. All my character keep yelling at me, the plot keeps changing, and I have rewritten the end THREE TIMES.

For those of you out there with the delusion that things come easily to us writers, I'm here to pop your bubble. Sometimes writing is an agonizing experience. It can keep you up at night and cause your mind to wonder at the worst possible moments. Also, can drive you nuts because your brain never turns off. It's a conscious effort on our parts not to make up stories when an interesting even is seen or talked about. Of course, anyone who has gone to a wedding, baby shower, bridal shower, graduation, child's birthday party, and celebrated the holidays knows this. LOL Trust me when I say, these are things us writer count on for our next books. Hhhmmm, maybe I just haven't been to something interesting enough to spark my writing muse to finish these little projects. Guess I'm off to crash a couple weddings!

Have a sparkling day!
